First Salmon of the Year caught on Lough Currane!
Well known local professional Ghillie, Neil O’Shea caught the first Salmon of the 2016 season on Lough Currane yesterday. Not only was this the first for the Waterville Fishery but was also the first salmon caught in Ireland. It is also the first time that the first salmon in Ireland has come from the Waterville Fishery!
Neil was presented with the Paddy Carey Memorial Cup, awarded for the first salmon of the season each year, By Damien Duff the proprietor of the Jolly Swagman Inn in Waterville.
